The following individuals competed in and won the Winter 2023 Changemakers Instagram Reel Contest. This event calls for 60-second student proposals about a social problem and a potential solution, with prizes of up to $1,500 going to winning reels.
1st Place: Video Game Philanthropy
Garrett and Jacob Stanford won $1,500 to fund their idea of using proceeds from fun smartphone games to fund environmental efforts.
2nd Place: Reducing Poverty by Improving Literacy
Emmie Sheets, a pre-communication major, won $750 for her idea to raise people out of poverty by increasing literacy rates.
3rd Place: Keeping Water From Going to Waste in Airports
Eli Wright, an advertising major, won $500 for his proposal to save 6,000 gallons of water in each airport each day using a conservation station.
