What does community mean to you? When BYU alumnus, Ellie Romans Draper, joined the Ballard Center for Social Impact, she was invigorated by the feeling of being part of a community of like-minded individuals. But the Ballard Center didn’t just give Draper a community; it also gave her the necessary tools to bless others’ lives.
Draper’s efforts to build community and strengthen others through social impact work started locally and gradually expanded to international work through a series of educational and professional opportunities.
At the core of Draper’s social impact work lies a deep-rooted faith in Jesus Christ. She has learned how to internalize the Ballard Center value of being Christ-led, by seeking to understand and solve social problems guided by the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. The embodiment of this principle is one of several factors that distinguish Ballard Center participants from their peers. Draper not only graduated with the skills to Do Good. Better. but also the faith to press forward in this difficult but valuable work.
