  • A self-paced online module that contains our job search framework and step-by-step instructions for all stages of a job search—from personal exploration to resume updates to job applications.

  • Connect with social impact professionals that have committed 6 hours a week to mentoring Ballard Center students. Discuss your resume, your fears, your dreams, your questions and more! They can assist you by retelling their own life, connecting you to people in their network, strengthening your faith, and more. On-Campus Opportunities

Sign up for or attend these on-campus opportunities to network and search for social impact jobs.
  • This 1-credit class provided by the Ballard Center is designed to get you the social impact job or internship you want. While employment after this class is not guaranteed, you will be given the skills, networking opportunities, and personal reflection activities needed to set you up for success. If there is a little voice in the back of your head saying you should really start applying for jobs, this is the class for you! This course is mostly designed for juniors and seniors looking for internships or post-graduation jobs.

  • A section of the BYU Career Fair will feature social impact and sustainability organizations. Attend to meet employers in the social impact space and find job openings!

  • There are many social impact-focused conferences and competitions that will develop your professional skills and expand your network. These events vary by semester and often include travel opportunities. Some financial assistance is available through the Ballard Center on a case-by-case basis. Even if you don’t feel qualified for these opportunities, we invite you to apply and attend! Your future self will thank you.

    The following opportunities are those that we are highlighting, but there are many more available!

    Harvard Social Enterprise Conference (SECON) 2025

    • Summary: The 26th Annual Social Enterprise Conference (SECON), presented by students at Harvard Kennedy School and Harvard Business School, will bring together top leaders, practitioners and students to engage in dialogue, debate, and expression around Social Enterprise. This year’s theme is “A New Roadmap For Impact”
    • Event Date: March 9, 2025
    • Application Deadline: Specific application deadlines are not available at this time.
    • Cost: Paid, cost currently unknown
    • Location: Cambridge, MA

    Skoll World Forum 2025

    • Summary: The Skoll World Forum shines a spotlight on some of the most promising solutions and impactful social innovations and connects leaders who are driving social progress around the world. Attendance is curated by the Skoll Foundation team, with free virtual participation open to everyone. We will be hosting a watch party of some of the most popular workshops from this forum!
    • Event Date: April 1–4, 202
    • Application Deadline: No application needed
    • Cost: Free
    • Location: Online

    Millennium Fellowship

    • Summary: The Millennium Fellowship is a semester-long leadership development program for undergraduate students, aiming to improve student leadership for social impact. It is facilitated by United Nations Academic Impact and the Millennium Campus Network. This program is run in a cohort, so at least 8 students from BYU must apply for a cohort to be created!
    • Event Date: The fellowship typically runs during the fall semester.
    • Application Deadline: First priority deadline is Jan 31, but applications are also available later!

    AFS Youth Assembly

    • Summary: The AFS Youth Assembly is a global gathering of young leaders and change-makers, focusing on international development and social impact. This year’s theme is “Defying Adversity: Empowering Young Global Citizens to Lead.” Network with young social impact changemakers from across the world! There are also optional workshops surrounding the event for an extra price.
    • Event Date: August 8-10, 2025
    • Application Deadline: To be announced.
    • Cost: $450-$3,000
    • Location: New York City, NY

    Duke Business for Good Competition

    • Summary: The Duke Business for Good Competition encourages students to develop innovative business solutions that address social and environmental challenges. You can either have a specific business plan created or also create a project about general business principles that can be used to create a social impact. The top 10 finalists receive an all-expenses trip to Duke University to present their idea and connect with the Duke business school.
    • Event Date: April 3-6, 2025
    • Application Deadline: January 21, 2025
    • Cost: Free
    • Location: Submit online, finalists fly to Durham, NC

  • Each semester, the Career Services team will hold workshops focused on specific career skills such as resume building, LinkedIn optimization, interview preparation, social impact job paths, networking events, and more.
