Campus Relationships

Steven has been a BYU faculty member since 2014, drawing on his extensive background in business to help students approach social impact through their careers, communities, and discipleship. After earning his business degree from BYU in 1983, he received an MBA from Harvard University in 1987 and went on to work in diverse industries, including marketing and software, at companies like Microsoft. His leadership, faith, and dedication to student growth make him a driving force behind the Ballard Center’s mission and a mentor to students striving to make a difference.

Steven believes in the power of innovation to create meaningful change and has spent his career helping students turn their desire to do good into practical, lasting impact. Before joining the Ballard Center, he served as the managing director of the Rollins Center for Entrepreneurship & Technology, where he helped students master the tools of innovation, entrepreneurship, and intrapreneurship. After serving as a mission president in Tahiti, Steven returned to BYU with a deep commitment to the Ballard Center’s mission to Do Good. Better. As Campus Relationships Manager, Steven is deeply engaged in student learning and development. He teaches courses like Do Good. Better. and Ballard Brief, guiding students through research, data collection, and analysis. He encourages students to “love the problem” and create informed solutions.
