The Lisa Show Breaks Down What It Means To "Do Good. Better."

Our motto at the Ballard Center is a call to action: "Do Good. Better." But what does that really mean?

In an eight-part series, podcast host Lisa Valentine Clark of The Lisa Show shows what Doing Good. Better. looks like in the practice of nonprofit leaders and the Ballard Center administrators. Clark and her guests cover examples of what doing good poorly looks like, including the digging of wells in Bangladesh to solve a cholera epidemic, only to discover the water was laced with arsenic. However, they cover positive examples too—like changing the approach of the nonprofit, Rising Star Outreach, to empower people with leprosy in India.

These episodes contain the answers to many popular questions about the field of social impact. For example, How can I find out what actually helps a community? Or, how can I replace guilt over societal wrongs and get to work with hope?
